BOB HOPE CHRYSLER CLASSIC'S NEARLY $1.75 MILLION BRINGS CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTIONS TO $44 MILLION SINCE 1960

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Eisenhower Medical Center and 34 other local charities are once again beneficiaries of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. The $1.5425 million in proceeds from the 2006 event

will be distributed to the listed Coachella Valley charities. Since the inception of the tournament in 1960 the Classic's charitable donations total $43,903.488.

In addition to the $1.5425 million, grants from the Special Grants Funds this year have included $100,000 to Food in Need of Distribution to help alleviate the suffering of local farm workers and $100,000 in special grants to Palm Springs charities including The Mizell Senior Center – Meals on Wheels, Palm Springs Soroptomist – Houses of Hope, Desert Women for Equality, Stroke Recovery Center, James O. Jessie Highland Community Center and Palm Springs.

"The Bob Hope Chrysler Classic exists to support the charities of the Coachella Valley in their work offering help to the needy and less fortunate, said Jim Reed, Funds Distribution Committee Chairman. "Today makes all the work that goes into organizing the Classic all the more meaningful." John Foster, 2007 Tournament President added, "We fully recognize, however, that a significant measure of our success in assisting our desert charities is through the magnificent support we receive from our long time sponsor, Chrysler and dedicated volunteers.

Representatives from the organizations listed to the right will gather at the Palm Springs Boys & Girls Club on April 5th at 2:15 p.m.

City representatives from Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage were also invited.
